One of the ideal destinations for ecotourism

CHIN STATE

It, one of the ecotourism sites recently growing in popularity in Myanmar, is situated northwest of Mandalay. A seven-hour drive from Bagan is Kanpatlat, a small town in beautiful mountain setting with some bungalow-type hotel at its summit. A two-hour drive from Kanpatlat is 10- mile base camp, a starting point for five hour trekking excursion to the summit of Mt. Victoria (3108 m).

All of the Chin Villages and town are in beautiful mountain setting. An excursion to Chin provides you opportunities to observe their traditional custom and chin women with tattoo on their faces and also to watch the rare bird species which can not be found anywhere else in the world.

Of the small towns in chin state, Kanpatlat, Mindat are now visited for its picturesque beautiful scenery and fine weather. Hunting being one of the Chin national pastimes, you can see various bone heads of animals proudly hanged at walls of their houses. Their primitive weapon is the bow. In Chin this weapon is universal, being used both in fighting and hunting such larger animals as the bear. Although prohibited, the custom of being tattooed on their faces is still conducted.
